Punjab Chief Minister launches first-in-India Sadak Surakhya Force to combat road accidents and target prevention of drunk driving, overspeeding on highways.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann launched the Sadak Surakhya Force on May 14 to combat road accidents in the state and make it the first of its kind in India. The force, flagged off with 129 hi-tech vehicles, aims to address the issue of 65% of road accident deaths occurring on national and state highways. The SSF's personnel will be deployed every 30 kilometers on roads, focusing on preventing issues such as drunken driving, overspeeding, and providing medical assistance during emergencies.
