Vancouver mayor appoints five people to group to abolish elected park board.

Mayor Ken Sim has announced five new members to the "transition working group", which will oversee the abolishment of the elected Vancouver park board and bring parks and recreation under the direct oversight of the city council. The group will include former park board commissioner Catherine Evans, former deputy general manager of the park board Shauna Wilton, soccer coach and South Asian community leader Jordan Nijjar, director of BC Diving Jennifer Wood, and executive director of Vancouver United Football Club Gregor Young. The working group will collaborate with Sim, councillors Sarah Kirby-Yung and Rebecca Bligh, the mayor's chief of staff Trevor Ford, and current ABC park commissioner Marie-Claire Howard over the next six months.
