Juneau experienced a 62.8" snowfall within two weeks, reaching 40" peak snow depth, due to normal coastal Alaska Panhandle region weather pattern shifts between rain and snow.

Alaska's Capital City, Juneau, was recently hit by two massive snowstorms, resulting in a total of 62.8 inches of snowfall within a two-week period. The snowfall caused the snow depth to peak at 40 inches, burying the city in five feet of snow. The weather has since turned to rain. This is not unusual for the coastal Alaska Panhandle region, where the winter climate is characterized by frequent changes between rain and snow.
