V&A and the British Museum to loan 30+ golden artefacts to Ghana in a historic agreement, returning items taken during 19th-century British-Asante conflicts.

The Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) and the British Museum in the UK are set to loan back over 30 golden artefacts to Ghana in a historic agreement. The artefacts, which include items of golden regalia worn by Asante kings, were taken during conflicts between the British and Asante in the 19th century. The loan agreements, valid for three years with an option to extend, are made with the current Asante king, Otumfo Osei Tutu II, instead of the Ghanaian government.
