NHTSA concluded low risk investigation on door latch issues in 2020-21 Ford Escape SUVs, opting for customer satisfaction program without recall.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has concluded its investigation into door latch issues on certain Ford Escape SUVs from 2020 and 2021 model years, determining that the risk to drivers is low. Instead of recalling the vehicles, Ford is conducting a customer satisfaction program which includes sending letters to owners in March, offering fixes at dealerships. The SUVs already have audible and visual warnings if the doors do not latch correctly. The NHTSA had received 593 complaints and three injury reports about the issue.
