Australia Day protest forces Gabba venue into lockdown amid West Indies Test.

On Friday, January 26th, 2024, an Australia Day protest took place outside the Brisbane venue where a West Indies Test match was underway. The protest led to a brief lockdown at the venue as two protesters entered through Gate 1. Channel 7 and Foxtel were also forced to leave the playing surface. Broadcasters and staff were not allowed to exit the facility during the lockdown, which only lasted about ten minutes. Queensland Police and security staff managed to secure the situation quickly, with the CA chief executive, Nick Hockley, praising their efforts. The protest was part of "Invasion Day" rallies happening across Australia.
