Northwestern Air's Canadian charter plane crashes in northern Canada while heading to a diamond mine, killing everyone on board.

A Canadian charter flight operated by Northwestern Air crashed in northern Canada, resulting in fatalities. The plane, which was on its way to a Rio Tinto diamond mine, lost contact shortly after takeoff near Fort Smith, a town approximately 740 kilometers south of Yellowknife. The Northwest Territories Coroner's Service has not yet disclosed the number of fatalities or passengers on board but has begun notifying next-of-kin. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is sending investigators to the scene.
