Betty Boothroyd's Columbo DVDs were auctioned off for charity.

Baroness Betty Boothroyd's 224 items, including jewellery and mementos from her personal and political life, have raised over £84,000 for charity at an auction. The highest-selling item was a programme for the 1961 inauguration of US President John F Kennedy, which sold for £7,250. Boothroyd, the first female Speaker of the House of Commons, died last year at 93. The money will be split between several charities, according to co-owner Thomas Forrester.
