China's youth unemployment rate improved to 14.9% for 16-24-year-olds in December, compared to 21.3% in June. The National Bureau of Statistics adjusted its methodology to better suit China's unique conditions. China's population shrank for the second consecutive year, affecting the world's second-largest economy. The economy grew by 5.2% last year, but still one of the country's worst in over three decades. China's birth rate dropped to a record low, and the workforce dropped by 10.75 million from 2022.
