Australian Catholic University admits $3.6M wage underpayment.

The Australian Catholic University (ACU) has acknowledged a $3.6 million underpayment for 1,100 casual academic staff between 2016 and 2023. The discrepancies in entitlement calculations led to the underpayment. Affected staff will receive their full back pay, including interest, as soon as possible. The National Tertiary Education Union has criticized the situation as "endemic" in Australia's tertiary education sector, with over 100,000 staff affected by underpayments totaling over AUD 170 million nationwide.
