To avoid a sales ban, Apple is removing the pulse oximeter from watches.

Apple is getting rid of the pulse oximeter, a device used to measure blood oxygen, from its Watch Ultra 2 and Series 9 devices because the U.S. government has banned its sales due to a patent dispute with the health technology company Masimo. The International Trade Commission had prohibited the devices because they infringed upon Masimo's patents. Sales were resumed after the ban was halted due to Apple's appeal of the ruling. In order to get around the ban, the company has now redesigned the smartwatches.
