World powers have retaliated with strikes in Yemen against Houthi rebels using drones and other weapons.

The UK and US have launched airstrikes against Houthi rebels in Yemen, marking the first time strikes have been launched against the group since it began targeting international shipping in the Red Sea in late 2021. The attacks have raised concerns in Saudi Arabia, which is seeking a ceasefire and military exit from the Yemen conflict in order to focus on domestic reforms. The strikes were launched in response to weeks of disruptive attacks on Red Sea shipping by Iran-backed Houthi rebels, who control northern Yemen.
