A group of ancient cities in the Ecuadorian Amazon have been discovered.
Archaeologists have discovered a cluster of lost cities in the Amazon rainforest 2,000 years ago, home to 10,000 farmers. The cities were composed of earthen mounds and buried roads and were found in the forested Andes foothills. Recent mapping with laser-sensor technology revealed a dense network of settlements.
