The US space agency says a private company's mission to land on the Moon is in trouble.

A historic private mission to land on the Moon has faced near-certain failure after the spacecraft suffered a "critical loss" of fuel. The first US moon landing attempt in over 50 years, carried out by private company Astrobotic Technology, appeared to be doomed after the spacecraft developed engine trouble seven hours after its launch from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. The company's lander, named Peregrine, was set to be the first private business to successfully land on the Moon.
