The trial of former Gambian interior minister has begun in Switzerland.
Former Gambian interior minister Ousman Sonko is set to go on trial in Switzerland, charged with crimes against humanity. Sonko, who served as interior minister from 2006 to 2016, is accused of participating in or ordering the killing, torture, and rape of political opponents. The trial is being held under the principle of universal jurisdiction, allowing for the prosecution of grave crimes committed abroad.
