India may consider giving duty concessions to Oman's petrochemical industry as part of a free trade agreement.

Customs duty concessions on petrochemical products, such as polypropylene and polyethylene, are becoming a sticking point in the negotiations for the free-trade agreement (FTA) between India and Oman, known as the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). Negotiations are currently in the last phase, with some domestic players opposing the duty concessions because Oman offers substantial subsidies to its industry for producing these petrochemical items.
