San Francisco has installed nets on both sides of the Golden Gate Bridge to prevent suicides.

San Francisco has finally installed stainless-steel nets on both sides of the Golden Gate Bridge to prevent suicides. The project, which began in 2018, took over a decade to complete. The nets were built with marine-grade stainless steel to withstand the harsh environment, including salt water, fog, and strong winds. They are placed 20 feet (6 meters) down from the bridge's deck and are not visible from cars crossing the bridge.
