A small earthquake of magnitude 1.7 was reported in New York City.

A small earthquake, possibly linked to an explosion on Roosevelt Island, was reported in Astoria, Queens, around 5:45 a.m. EST. The USGS reported the magnitude 1.7 earthquake, which was triggered by a "building shaking and explosion" in the area of 580 Main St., just south of Roosevelt Island Bridge & Tram. The fire department responded to the reports.
