Clandestine cats in Singapore can soon be legally adopted and reside in the city-state.

Singaporean citizen Sunny has been hiding a feline fugitive named Mooncake for three years, defying a 34-year-old law banning cats in government-built apartments. The ban, which applies to high-rise housing blocks, has been flouted by cat lovers. Singapore plans to scrap the ban later this year, freeing Sunny from the threat of a fine or her pet's potential eviction. The ban, which only applies to high-rise blocks, has been largely ignored by authorities.
