A man's trial for stabbing Salman Rushdie may be delayed for the author's memoir publication.

Salman Rushdie's alleged attacker, Hadi Matar, may delay his trial due to his plans to publish a book about a 2022 attempt on his life. Matar is entitled to the manuscript and related material as part of his trial preparation, according to Chautauqua County Judge David Foley. Matar and his attorney have until Wednesday to decide if they want to delay the trial until they have the book in hand. Jury selection is scheduled to begin on January 8.
