Nigeria's government launches initiative to upgrade public transport.

Over 160,000 Nigerians have enjoyed the benefits of the President's End-of-Year Transportation Subsidy Programme, which provided a 50 percent discount on road fares and free train trips. Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) plans to increase train trips to six daily on the Standard Gauge Train in 2024.
