Equinor and Shell are combining their UK offshore oil and gas assets to form the UK North Sea's largest independent producer, expected to produce over 140,000 barrels of oil equivalent daily by 2025. The joint venture, to be based in Aberdeen, will be equally owned by both companies and is set to finalize by the end of 2025. This move aims to bolster domestic oil and gas production and enhance energy security in the UK.
